Simple & Fine Kitchen Design

Before & After Slideshow

This dated kitchen was in need of a refreshing new look and enhanced storage. Our client had existing pine columns, corbels, and beams in their architectural detailing, so we suggested a knotty alder in a contrasting darker stain for their new cabinets. All custom, we fabricated the cabinets to their desired specifications, utilizing every lineal inch of available space – no fillers here!

Although I would have taken a more playful approach to the backsplash (see multicolored handmade tiles laid out on the island), the final decision was much more conservative. They selected a glossy undulating subway tile, to make a clean simple statement.

The existing tile flooring was replaced with larger format square porcelain tiles, with minimized grout joints that mimicked a honed stone.

Taj Mahal quartzite countertops replaced the tile countertops with wide, hard-to-maintain grout joints, providing an elegant neutral to this newly transformed kitchen.
